November 2011
Thank You Palmetto Health Richland
Palmetto Health Richland was recently honored by Donate Life South Carolina, LifePoint and the South Carolina Hospital Association for successful creative efforts to increase the number of registered organ, tissue and eye donors among their staff and community partners.
Representatives from the hospital accepted a plaque from Dr. Richard Foster of the S.C. Hospital Association and LifePoint during a Nov. 11 ceremony in front of the Columbia, S.C., hospital. The Donate Life flag was raised to honor all donors and to celebrate the gifts of life they have given.
The award recognized Richland’s excellent support of the statewide social marketing campaign S.C.R.U.B.S. (South Carolina Registry Unites Business Support) for motivating employees of hospitals and community businesses to register their legal consent as donors on the official South Carolina Organ & Tissue Donor Registry – www.Every11Minutes.org.
Richland has excelled by placing registration tables in the cafeteria on the 11th of every month as well as at blood drives. Public relations also created fliers, table tents, and brochures along with promotions on the hospital's Facebook page.
Since the S.C.R.U.B.S campaign began in February 2010 more than 440,000 people have registered to donate life and more than 2,600 of them learned about the registry through the S.C.R.U.B.S. campaign. As of November 2011, the total number of registered donors in South Carolina exceeds 800,000.
