S.C. Organ, Tissue & Ocular Donors Honored in Ceremony
With the theme, "Life Takes Flight," LifePoint's annual statewide Donor Family Ceremony honored deceased donors who passed along the gift of life as their own lives took flight. More than 900 people were present for this all-day event that was held March 28 in the First Baptist Church, Columbia, S.C.

Donors were featured in a video depicting their names and photos. Another tribute to them was the display of three South Carolina donor quilts. Many new donor families brought quilt squares in memory of their loved ones for inclusion in the fourth state quilt. Families were given specially-made "Life Takes Flight" notecards and a copy of the video as a token of appreciation for their loved ones' gifts of life.
Special remarks were made by master of ceremonies Reuben Wright, a LifePoint Donor Family Services Counselor; Dr. Eugen G. Bach, Jr., a corneal recipient who is also Pastor of Latta Presbyterian Church; Brenda Horn, LifePoint Vice-President – Tissue Services, and Nancy A. Kay, LifePoint President/CEO, who also read a poem entitled, "Life Takes Flight," which she composed for donor families.
Choral performances included songs by a group of LifePoint singers as well as a solo by Reuben Wright, accompanied by pianist Cathy Blalock who is a LifePoint Donor Family Services Counselor. The event concluded with a luncheon.
