Celebrating Life on the Beach

A crowd of 250 people took celebrating life on the beach – Myrtle Beach – to a whole new level on Saturday, June 5. Along with music and fun for all, participants linked hands on the new boardwalk to celebrate the gift of life made possible by organ and tissue donation and transplantation. It raised awareness about the need for people to register as donors on www.Every11Minutes.org. "Linking Hands for Life" was the first public event held on the new boardwalk and was hosted by LifePoint, Inc. and Donate Life South Carolina.

Tim McGinnis, evening co-anchor of WPDE News Channel 15, served as Master of Ceremonies. The crowd heard comments from: Tracy Edge, S.C. House of Representatives, who received the 2009 Donate Life South Carolina Legislator of the Year Award for his continued support of organ and tissue donation; Nancy A. Kay, President and CEO of LifePoint and Tracy Armstrong, Executive Director of Donate Life South Carolina.

Following the talks, everyone linked hands in a moment of silence to honor all of those affected by donation and transplantation.
