CryoLife Honors LifePoint
Hearts Provided for Research
Employees of LifePoint’s tissue division and communications center were honored by CryoLife, Inc., on May 29, 2007, for providing all the hearts needed for a critical research study. The award was presented at the company’s headquarters in Charleston, S.C. by Mike Gann, Donor Services Account Manager – S.E. Region, CryoLife.
LifePoint’s staff was acknowledged “for responding in true leadership fashion by providing all the research hearts necessary to complete the combination aortic-mitral allograft heart valve project” conducted by Dr. Jose Navia at the Cleveland Clinic in collaboration with CryoLife, Inc.
LifePoint, the organ, tissue and eye recovery agency for South Carolina, honors the wishes of each donor in the state – those who donate for the purpose of transplantation as well as those who request donation for research.
Although multiple CryoLife procurement partners were offered the opportunity to participate, LifePoint was the only one to do so.
CryoLife, headquartered in Atlanta, is dedicated to improving health and quality of life through the transplantation of human tissues and bio-surgical devices.
