The Buddy System

LifePoint started a program for new donor families in August 2005. The Buddy System gives older donor families a chance to call new families for support and comfort. We believe these ”Buddies,” who have already experienced all the LifePoint donor family programs, have much to offer the new families.

A new donor family may be afraid or apprehensive about sharing their loss. Their “Buddy” can give them a sense that “you can survive your loss because we have” and offer their love and counsel because they have “been through it.” A DFS counselor selects the new family for each Buddy.
