Congratulations to Team South Carolina!

Twenty transplant athletes from throughout South Carolina participated in the National Transplant Games, held June 16-21, 2006 in Louisville, Kentucky. Twelve of them brought home a total of 24 medals.

Other South Carolina athletes who competed are: Garry Brown, Easter Dickerson, Tate Edge, Pam Hawver, Kenny Martin, Natalie O’Dell, Virginia Simmons and Mark Walker.

Gold:

Bill McAfee – 5K road race

Amy Saylors – swimming – butterfly stroke
Andrew Whigham – swimming – 100 meter freestyle
Andrew Whigham – swimming – 400 meter freestyle

Silver:

Dennis Caughman – table tennis
Ed Heins – 1500 meter racewalk
Ed Heins – softball throw
Bill McAfee – swimming – 400 meters
Bill McAfee – 20K cycling
Nate Miller – 1500 meter run
Amy Saylors – swimming – 50 meter backstroke

Bronze:
